LaSalle Capital Acquires Security Assurance

October 2, 2015 by John McNulty

United American Security, a portfolio company of LaSalle Capital, has acquired the commercial division of Security Assurance Management which provides security guard services to commercial, government, and foreign embassy customers in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

United American Security (UAS) provides security guard services to customers in the manufacturing, industrial, distribution, corporate, retail, hospitality, and gated community segments. Services provided by UAS include facility patrols, reception, emergency and alarm response, loss prevention and vehicle inspections.  The company is headquartered in Raleigh, NC (www.unitedamericansecurity.com).

The acquisition of Security Assurance Management (SAM) – the thirteenth completed by UAS since its formation by LaSalle in April 2010 – strengthens the company’s presence in the Washington DC area and gives it a position in the embassy end market.  “The addition of SAM gives us significant scale and greater density in the Washington DC market, and expands our service offering to include the specialized services required by foreign embassies,” said Stephen Levine, CEO of UAS.

Security Assurance Management was founded in 1992 by Russell Stephens who will continue with UAS post-closing. The company is based in Washington DC (www.samprotection.com).

Nick Christopher and Kelly Cornelis, both partners at LaSalle Capital, led the acquisition of SAM. The firm is currently investing its second fund which makes control investments in companies with revenues of less than $75 million and EBITDA between $2 million and $10 million. Sectors of interest include food & beverage, outsourced business services and value-added distribution/manufacturing.  LaSalle Capital is based in Chicago (www.lasallecapitalgroup.com).
