Fort Point Capital Acquires Engineering Planning and Management

August 9, 2013 by John McNulty

Fort Point Capital has entered into an agreement to acquire a majority equity interest in Engineering Planning and Management, a provider of engineering services to the nuclear power industry.

Engineering Planning and Management (EPM) is a provider of engineering, consulting, probabilistic risk assessment, fire protection services, and software to the nuclear power industry and other commercial customers. The company’s products and services address the safety challenges faced by nuclear power generation facilities through mission critical software and professional engineering services. The company has provided services to the vast majority of the nuclear power facilities across the US and Canada. Engineering Planning and Management was founded in 1980 and is headquartered in Framingham, MA (www.epm-inc.com).

“My management team and I were searching for a partner who would bring a network of valuable industry contacts and expertise, as well as provide the strategic and financial resources for our continued growth. We are excited about our partnership with Fort Point and believe their experience working with middle market companies and commitment to growth will help us continue to scale our organization while providing the best consulting and software solutions for our customers,” said Wade Larson, founder of EPM.

Fort Point Capital invests from $5 to $25 million in service-oriented, lower middle market companies across a range of sectors, including business services, healthcare, consumer, and software and information. Fort Point Capital is currently investing from FPC Small Cap Fund I. The firm is based in Boston (www.fortpointcapital.com).

“We believe that Wade Larson, Robert Kalantari (CEO) and their management team have built a market leading consulting and software practice with significant growth potential,” said Brooke Ablon, a General Partner at Fort Point Capital. “We are excited by the prospect of working with the team to expand EPM’s offerings in the global energy market.”
