Birch Hill Equity Partners has acquired the Industrial Division of Newalta Corporation for $300 million in cash. Upon closing of the purchase, the Industrial Division was re-named Terrapure Environmental. Todd Moser, the Senior Vice President of the Industrial Division, will now lead Terrapure as its President and CEO.
Terrapure Environmental provides a range of environmental waste management services to the automotive, construction, pulp and paper, mining, manufacturing, refining, steel and transportation industries. Terrapure has 900 employees and over 35 locations across Canada. The company is headquartered in Burlington, ON (www.terrapureenv.com).
Newalta is a provider of environmental services with office in Calgary, Edmonton and Denver (www.newalta.com).
Birch Hill Equity Partners invests in mid-market companies that are valued from C$30 million to C$600 million. The firm is presently investing from its fourth private equity fund, Birch Hill Equity Partners IV, which closed in 2011 with C$1 billion of capital commitments.
