Arlington Capital Buys Intelesys

January 23, 2017 by John McNulty

Polaris Alpha, a provider of technology, software, and services to the defense and intelligence communities, has acquired Intelesys Corporation.  Polaris Alpha is a portfolio company of Arlington Capital Partners.

Intelesys provides computer network operations and cyber solutions – including software engineering, embedded development, network engineering and analysis, reverse engineering and malware analysis –to the US intelligence community. The company was founded in 2004 by Geoffrey Bloom, John Szakmeister and Chris Lewis and is based in Elkridge, MD (www.intelesyscorp.com).

Arlington Capital formed Polaris Alpha in November 2016 through the merger of EOIR (a portfolio company since June 2016) with Intelligent Software Solutions and PROTEUS Technologies. Today, Polaris Alpha provides advanced technical capabilities, specialized domain expertise and mission critical services to the Department of Defense and intelligence community customers. The company has approximately 1,200 employees with offices in Colorado Springs, CO; Fredericksburg, VA; Annapolis Junction, MD; Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; and Alexandria, VA (www.polarisalpha.com).

According to Polaris Alpha, the buy of Intelesys expands the company’s leadership in the cyber and signals intelligence arena. “This acquisition is a natural fit to complement Polaris Alpha’s existing cyber defense offering,” said Peter Cannito, CEO of Polaris Alpha.  “By adding Intelesys, Polaris now provides the full spectrum of cyber operational capabilities required to support the military and intelligence communities.”

“This acquisition is very timely, especially with the ongoing discussion about our nation’s preparedness for more sophisticated engagement with our adversaries,” said Charles Taylor, Executive Vice President, Cyber and SIGINT Business Unit, Polaris Alpha.  “Intelesys is not only well aligned with our nation’s spending priorities to support cyber network operations, but also best positioned to address technological changes as the cyber landscape evolves.”

Arlington Capital Partners has $2.2 billion of committed capital and invests in buyouts and recapitalizations of companies valued from $50 million to $500 million. Sectors of interest include government services and technology; aerospace and defense; healthcare; and business services and software.  The firm is investing out of its fourth fund which closed in July of 2016 with $700 million of capital. Arlington Capital is based in Chevy Chase, MD (www.arlingtoncap.com).
