Mill Point Buys Kemp Technologies

Mill Point Capital has acquired Kemp Technologies, a provider of load balancing and distributed computing network software.

Kemp Technologies is a software company that builds load balancing products which distributes user traffic between multiple application servers in physical, virtual, cloud or multi-cloud environments. Kemp has more than 25,000 customers and 60,000 application deployments in 115 countries.

The company was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in New York with regional hubs in Limerick, Ireland; Munich, Germany; Singapore and Sao Paulo, Brazil (www.kemptechnologies.com).

Kemp’s management team, including CEO Ray Downes, will continue to lead the company, under Mill Point ownership. In addition, John Becker, current chairman of Kemp will remain in his position with the company and partner with Mill Point going forward. “We are thrilled to be partnering with Mill Point and are excited about their commitment to our ongoing development efforts and future growth opportunities,” said Mr. Downes. “I am very proud of the strong technology foundation we have built and look forward to continuing our world-class innovation and service that is helping customers deliver an optimal application experience.”

Mill Point makes control-oriented investments of $15 million to $80 million in middle-market companies that have enterprise values of $50 million to $250 million. Sectors of interest include business services and industrial. Mill Point closed its inaugural institutional fund, Mill Point Capital Partners LP, at its hard cap of $450 million in May 2018. The firm was founded by Managing Partner Michael Duran and is based in New York (www.millpoint.com).
