OceanSound Adds Seven New Professionals

OceanSound makes control investments of $75 million to $300 million in North America-based technology and technology-enabled services companies

OceanSound Partners has announced the addition of seven new professionals to support the firm’s growth in assets under management, new portfolio companies and continued investment activity.

The New York City-based OceanSound makes control investments of $75 million to $300 million in North America-based technology and technology-enabled services companies serving the government and enterprise industries. Typical target companies will have enterprise values of $150 million to $750 million. OceanSound currently has $1.8 billion in assets under management, 7 companies in its portfolio and has completed acquisitions of 29 companies – 7 platforms and 22 add-ons – since its founding in 2019.

The new staff additions to OceanSound include Vice President Sam Todd (ex-Thoma Bravo), Senior Associate Caroline Weakland (ex-Sun Capital), and Associates Alexander Giolito (ex-Jefferies), Richard Hagestad (ex-Lazard), Nicholas Iserloth (ex-Jefferies), and Isha Kothari (ex-Spurrier Capital). Laurie Hadick (ex-HealthCor Management) joins the firm as its new Director of Compliance.

OceanSound is led by Managing Partner and Co-Founder Joe Benavides alongside fellow Partners and Co-Founders Ted Coons and Jeff Kelly.

“We are very excited that this talented group of professionals is joining OceanSound at a time of great growth for our firm,” said Mr. Benavides. “Private equity is a business in which it takes many years for professionals to develop appropriate experience and we are building a firm for long-term success. As such, it is imperative that we invest early in building our base of professional talent who will be an important part of our future and culture.”

In February 2022, OceanSound closed its debut fund, OceanSound Partners Fund LP, with an above-target $780 million of committed capital. The firm is currently raising its second fund, OceanSound Partners Fund II LP, but has not yet held a final close.
