Northlane Capital Partners has promoted JJ Carbonell to Principal and has hired Rich Grant as the firm’s new Director of Business Development.
Mr. Carbonell joined Northlane in 2013 and is actively involved in the firm’s investment activity. Before Northlane, he was with Wells Fargo Securities as an analyst in its leveraged finance group.
“JJ has been a key member of our firm since he joined eight years ago,” said Sean Eagle, a partner at Northlane. “We are proud to promote JJ to a leadership role, after many years of contributing tremendous value to the Northlane team and our portfolio companies.”
Mr. Grant has more than 15 years of sales, marketing, and business development experience. Beginning in 2019, he was the Director of Business Development at Growth Operators, a Minneapolis-headquartered provider of finance, accounting and human resources services to mid-sized companies. From 2014 to 2019, Mr. Grant was an associate publisher and senior sales manager with Source Media, a New York City-based finance and private equity media company.
“We are excited to have Rich join Northlane as Director of Business Development,” said Justin DuFour, a partner at Northlane. “His experience and network will significantly enhance our sourcing efforts related to investment opportunities and operating executive talent. His addition will allow the Northlane investment teams to prioritize engagement with prospects in targeted segments within the healthcare and business services sectors.”
Northlane invests in companies that have EBITDA of $5 million to $30 million and are active in the healthcare and business services sectors. The Bethesda, Maryland-based firm was formed through the January 2017 spinout of American Capital Equity III LP (ACE III) from American Capital as a result of the acquisition of the company by Ares Capital.
