ORIX Capital Partners has hired Craig Kahler as a managing director.

Mr. Kahler will be active with ORIX’s middle-market private equity business, designing and executing strategies to leverage its capabilities and competitive advantages, overseeing the New York-based investment team’s activities, and maintaining and developing client relationships. Mr. Kahler will also serve on the firm’s investment committee.

ORIX Capital Partners (OCP) invests from $75 million to $200 million of equity per transaction in North America based middle-market companies that are active in the business services, infrastructure services and industrials sectors.

Mr. Kahler will report to Chris Suan, president and senior managing director of OCP. “Craig’s background and investing experience will not only strengthen the OCP team but will also help drive our asset management growth plans,” said Mr. Suan. “He will play a vital role as we continue to collaborate with our partners, build our portfolio of middle-market companies and execute the growth plans we established in 2016.” Since founding in March 2016, OCP has completed four platform transactions and six follow-on transactions.

Mr. Kahler has 16 years of middle-market private equity investing experience and most recently led the New York-based private equity team of Safanad, a private equity and real estate investment firm with offices in New York, London and Dubai. Prior to joining Safanad in 2014, Mr. Kahler was a portfolio manager with BlueMountain Capital and a principal at H.I.G. He began his career at Willis Stein and Credit Suisse First Boston.

New York-based OCP is a business unit of ORIX USA, a Dallas-based financial services firm. Its parent company, ORIX Corporation, is a Tokyo-based, publicly owned financial services company with operations in 37 countries and regions worldwide.
