Command Medical Products, a medical device contract manufacturer backed by Argosy Healthcare Partners, has acquired Injection Moulding & Tooling Services, known as IMATS. IMATS makes molded plastic parts for manufacturers and builds the steel molds used to produce them. The company operates a 32,000-square-foot plant in the free trade zone in Cartago, Costa Rica, where it also provides pad printing, assembly and packaging, and it has room to double its current production volumes. Julian Emery is founder and president.
The deal brings injection molding and tooling expertise to Command, which handles component production, finished device assembly, tooling design, tube extrusion, RF welding, clean room assembly and packaging. Founded in 1987 and based in Ormond Beach, Florida, Command runs ISO 13485-certified, FDA-registered facilities in the U.S. and Central America. CEO Mike Fillion said IMATS adds injection molding and tooling capabilities that complement Command’s existing operations. Argosy, which targets founder-owned healthcare businesses with $1 million to $3 million of EBITDA, acquired Command in February 2024.
