Compass Group Equity Partners has acquired Koma Precision, a national distributor of machine-tool accessories and a provider of calibration and aftermarket services.

Koma Precision supplies the accessories and add-on equipment that manufacturers attach to their machine tools to cut, hold, and position metal parts to tight tolerances. The company’s catalog includes rotary tables that turn and index a workpiece so a machine can cut it from several angles, angle heads and U-axis heads that let a spindle reach awkward surfaces, boring and facing heads for enlarging and finishing holes, live tooling, and tool presetters that measure cutting tools before they go into a machine. The company distributes the D’Andrea line of boring and facing heads and sells its own SmartLoader automated tool-loading system.

Customers of Koma include manufacturers that run computer-controlled machining equipment in the aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and defense sectors.

Beyond hardware, Koma runs a calibration business that checks and corrects the accuracy of machining equipment, work that manufacturers in regulated industries must document to hold certifications. The company also operates a growing aftermarket parts and support operation, supplying replacement components and technical services through a nationwide field infrastructure. Koma can also build custom-engineered tooling designed for a customer’s specific part or process.

Founded in 1982 by William Meo, Koma is led by CEO Dave Meo, the son of the founder, and is headquartered about 15 miles northeast of Hartford in East Windsor, Connecticut, with additional operations in Indiana.

“We believe this partnership will provide resources and strategic support to invest further in our people, expand our capabilities, and grow our product offerings all while maintaining the high level of service our customers have come to rely on,” said Mr. Meo. “Compass Group shares our vision for what Koma can become, and together we’re excited for this next chapter.”

“Koma has built an exceptional reputation through its technical expertise, customer relationships, and aftermarket service capabilities and aligns well with Compass Group’s strategy of partnering with industrial businesses that serve mission-critical applications,” said Ryan Roepke, a director at Compass Group. “Our goal is to partner with management to help build on this strong foundation with continued organic growth and opportunities for strategic add-ons.”

The US machine tools market was valued at roughly $26.8 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow about 4.9% a year to reach $43.2 billion by 2035, according to market.us. Demand for the accessories and consumables that attach to those machines — the rotary tables, tool holders, and presetters Koma supplies — tracks the installed base of equipment on factory floors, and the metalworking-machinery-accessories segment alone is forecast to expand by more than $15 billion through the middle of the decade, according to Technavio.

Growth in the sector is being driven by the reshoring of manufacturing to the United States, rising electric-vehicle production that demands tighter machining tolerances, and federal defense and semiconductor spending that mandates domestic production. Koma’s calibration and aftermarket service demand is tied to regulated industries such as aerospace, medical devices, and defense, where manufacturers must document the accuracy of their equipment, giving providers a recurring revenue stream somewhat insulated from swings in new-machine sales.

Compass Group invests up to $50 million of equity in Midwestern-headquartered companies that have enterprise values of $20 million to $200 million and EBITDA of $2 million to $15 million.
