Right Traffic Heads West with Expert Traffic Control

The add-on acquisition extends the company's North American network into Oregon

Right Traffic, a portfolio company of Genix Holdings, has acquired Expert Traffic Control, a Pacific Northwest traffic-management company that provides signs, cones, barricades, and flaggers to guide motorists safely around road and utility work.

Expert Traffic Control (ETC) keeps drivers and work crews apart. When a utility digs up a lane, a road is repaved, or a fiber crew works the shoulder, ETC supplies the temporary traffic control that reroutes vehicles and protects the people on site. The company serves utility, telecommunications, transportation, and infrastructure clients across the region, handling both the equipment and the trained personnel who direct traffic through active work zones.

Founded in 2022, ETC built its business in the Pacific Northwest on responsive service and a safety record that drew repeat work from infrastructure customers. Now, as part of Right Traffic, ETC gains access to that platform’s technology, including the Guardian SmartFlagger, an automated flagger assistance device that lets a single worker operate a remote-controlled stop-and-go signal from a safe distance rather than standing in the roadway holding a sign.

“We’re excited to welcome ETC to the Right Traffic family,” said Trevor Romkey, the chief executive officer of Right Traffic. “Pete and the entire ETC team have built an outstanding company with a strong reputation, talented people, and a culture that closely aligns with our own. Together, we’re well-positioned to continue raising the standard for traffic control while creating new opportunities for our employees and customers.”

Right Traffic operates a network of regional traffic-control companies across North America. Genix Holdings, a Toronto-based private investment firm, began assembling a traffic-control platform in 2020 and, in March 2024, consolidated its holdings under the Right Traffic brand.

The platform’s anchor investment was Wright Traffic Control, a Pittsburgh-based provider of traffic control services (2023). Right Traffic operates from a U.S. base in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and a headquarters near Halifax in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The Right Traffic platform has since expanded across the United States through a series of add-ons, including W.D. Wright, a Pennsylvania-based traffic control company operating across the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast (2024); WBE Traffic Control, a California-based traffic control company (2025); P.D. Brooks, a Virginia-based traffic control provider (2025); Southwest Barricades, an Arizona-based supplier of barricades and traffic control equipment; and, in November 2025, two Texas operators, FC Traffic and Barricades Unlimited.

The acquisition of ETC extends the platform into Oregon for the first time, bringing Right Traffic to roughly 2,500 employees across 15 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces.

Right Traffic operates in a fast-growing corner of roadway safety. The U.S. traffic-management market was valued at about $10.9 billion in 2024 and is forecast to reach roughly $18.5 billion by 2029, a compound annual growth rate near 11.2 percent, according to MarketsandMarkets. Sector growth is driven by rising road construction and utility activity, tighter work-zone safety rules, and the shift toward automated flagging devices that pull workers out of live traffic.

“Joining Right Traffic is an exciting next chapter for ETC,” said Pete Nelson, president and co-owner of ETC. “We were looking for a partner that shared our commitment to safety, our people, and the relationships we’ve built with our customers. Right Traffic brings the resources, technology, and long-term vision to help us continue growing while staying true to who we are.”
