RF Investment Partners has exited Ally Waste Services, a Phoenix-based provider of doorstep trash and recycling collection for apartment communities, ending a partnership that began in 2022 and included 12 add-on acquisitions.
Ally Waste Services runs a valet-trash service that has become a standard amenity at professionally managed apartments. Uniformed collectors pick up sealed bags left outside residents’ doors on scheduled evenings and carry them to the property’s central compactor, sparing tenants the walk and helping property managers keep communities clean. The company serves multifamily housing, student housing, and senior living operators, including large property-management firms and real estate investment trusts.
The company layers technology over its field operation, using route management and reporting tools that track pickups across thousands of units and give property owners visibility into service performance.
Founded as a regional southwestern operator, Ally Waste grew into a national managed-waste platform under chief executive James Crawley and is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.
RF made its platform investment in Ally Waste late in 2022, backing what was then a regional southwestern valet-trash operator with roughly 200 employees. Over the following three years the company combined organic growth with 12 add-on acquisitions, several of which pushed it beyond doorstep collection into bulk hauling and onsite waste management.
The add-on acquisitions included Waste Consolidators, a Phoenix-based provider of bulk waste collection for residential and commercial complexes (2023); RK Property Services, a Utah-based bulk-hauling and waste-leveling operator working across California, Nevada, and Utah (2024); Litterally, a Phoenix-based bulk trash-removal specialist (2024); WasteXperts, a provider of onsite waste-management and recycling-compliance services (2025); and WeDoTrash, a valet-trash provider (2025).
During RF’s ownership term, Ally Waste revenue increased by more than 900 percent, its workforce grew to nearly 1,700 people, and it extended its service offerings to customers across more than 42 states.
James Crawley
“What we built over the last few years is a testament to the incredible team at Ally Waste,” said Mr. Crawley. “From day one, our mission has been to develop and empower leaders who serve others with integrity, humility, and grit. That mission has never wavered. RF believed in us and gave us the runway to grow, and the results speak for themselves. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and we’re just as excited about what comes next.”
Demand for valet-trash services continues to build as it consistently ranks near the top of residents’ amenity wish lists, and it is now a default offering at the majority of professionally managed garden-style communities, with adoption spreading into student and senior housing. The market remains fragmented among regional operators and a handful of national providers, several of which each service several hundred thousand apartment units, leaving ample room for consolidation of the kind Ally Waste has successfully proven.
Peter Fidler
“Partnering with James and the Ally Waste team has been one of the most rewarding experiences in our firm’s history,” said Peter Fidler, co-founder and managing partner of RF Investment Partners. “When we invested at the end of 2022, we saw a hungry, values-driven management team with the vision to build something truly special. What set them apart just as much as the growth opportunity was their culture. I’ve rarely seen a company so genuinely committed to its values and its people. We’re incredibly proud of this team and look forward to watching their continued success.”
