Clearlake Grows Quest with Anetac Acquisition

Anetac, a provider of AI-powered identity security for human, non-human, and agentic identities, has been acquired by Quest Software, a data management, cybersecurity, and platform modernization company backed by Clearlake Capital Group. Anetac’s platform gives continuous visibility into identities, access chains, and privilege inheritance across hybrid and AI-driven environments. Founded in 2023 in Los Altos, California, the company was started by seven cybersecurity professionals led by chief executive officer Tim Eades.The deal strengthens Quest’s identity security platform within Microsoft ecosystems as machine identities, including service accounts, APIs, bots, and workloads, increasingly outnumber human users in enterprise environments. Quest, which traces its roots to 1987 and is led by chief executive Tim Page, counts more than 45,000 organizations, including over 90% of the Fortune 500, as customers.

Clearlake is a global alternative asset manager founded in 2006 with more than $185 billion in assets under management, investing across private equity, credit, infrastructure, secondaries, and co-investments.
