ICS designs and manufactures flow, level, pressure, and temperature sensing devices used in the industrial, aerospace, power generation, and defense sectors. The company’s products are used to monitor and control vital parameters in systems such as pumps, compressors, and HVAC equipment, and are integral to improving efficiency and automating preventative maintenance.

ICS was formed by LDR in 2024 through the combination of Whitman Controls, a maker of pressure switches and vacuum sensors (acquired in 2019), Thomas Products, a maker of flow switches and meters (2024), and Load Controls, a maker of torque and power measurement systems (2025). With the buy of Duro-Sense, ICS now adds capabilities in temperature sensing.

The company’s products include mineral-insulated, high-temperature, multipoint, and noble-metal thermocouples as well as resistance temperature detectors (RTDs). The company also supplies thermocouple wire, multi-pair cable, and related accessories such as connectors, fittings, insulators, protection tubes, terminal blocks, heads, thermowells, and transmitters.
Duro-Sense, headquartered near Los Angeles in Carson, California, was founded in 1978 by CEO Jay Waterman who will remain with the company as a strategic post-acquisition advisor.
“Joining ICS provides the scale and resources to take Duro Sense to the next level while preserving the quality and responsiveness our customers have trusted for decades,” said Mr. Waterman.
ICS is headquartered near Hartford in Bristol, Connecticut and is led by CEO Matt Powers. “Duro Sense represents everything we look for in a partner,” said Mr. Powers. “Their reputation for precision, reliability, and technical expertise aligns perfectly with our vision of building a comprehensive instrumentation platform.”
The temperature sensor industry, especially in aerospace and defense, is experiencing growth driven by increasing automation, stricter safety and emissions standards, and rising use of embedded instrumentation in aircraft and engines. According to Mordor Intelligence, the market for temperature sensors in the aerospace and defense segment is projected to grow at about 9% annually.
The acquisition of Duro Sense will enable ICS to provide a wider set of instrumentation—now covering flow, level, pressure and temperature measurement—to customers in industrial, aerospace, power generation and process markets.
