Soundcore Capital Partners has formed TreeServe LLC as a new platform in the tree care services sector and has closed its first acquisitions with the buys of Princeton Tree Care and Clauser Tree Care.
Both New Jersey-based Princeton Tree Care (PTC) and Pennsylvania-based Clauser Tree Care (CTC) provide a range of services including tree trimming and pruning, stump and tree removal, tree cabling and bracing, plant and shrub health care, and emergency and storm response.
PTC was founded in 2013 by CEO Tim Bruchez and is based in Princeton, New Jersey, and CTC was founded more than 30 years ago by President Steve Clauser and is based north of Philadelphia in Chalfont, Pennsylvania.
Soundcore intends to expand TreeServe’s service territories throughout high-growth metropolitan areas across the Northeast, Southeast, and Midwest United States.
“We are very excited to launch the 12th platform in Soundcore history by entering the growing tree care, plant and shrub health care, and lawn care service sector. These investments are the culmination of extensive thesis development, market mapping, and research by the Soundcore team,” said Jarrett Turner, the managing partner and founder of Soundcore. “We believe the market is ripe for consolidation, further professionalization, and sustained growth. Tim and Steve have built impressive and economically resilient businesses, each with reputations for outstanding customer service, arboricultural expertise, and professionalism. We are proud of our partnership and look forward to investing in each business to better serve customers within our target markets.”
New York City-headquartered Soundcore specializes in North America-based buy-and-build investments in the lower middle market. Target companies typically have EBITDA from $2 million to $14 million and are active in business and outsourced services, industrial services, specialty manufacturing, and value-added distribution sectors. Soundcore was founded in 2015 and has completed 96 acquisitions across 11 platforms.
“Secular trends supporting investments in exterior home care will continue to drive customer growth and spend and provide an opportunity to expand TreeServe’s service offering,” said Jeff Long, a partner at Soundcore. “Our investment and additional resources will allow Princeton and Clauser to better capture this market opportunity, distinctively serve their customer needs, and provide professional growth for their employees.”
O2 Sponsor Finance, a division of Old Second National Bank, was the administrative agent and lead arranger for the senior secured credit facilities to back the formation of TreeServe and its acquisitions of Princeton Tree Care and Clauser Tree Care.
