Leeds Equity has added Emily Bernstein to its investment team as a vice president.
Leeds Equity invests in the education, training, and information services industries. In November 2021, the firm held a final and above hard cap close of Leeds Equity Partners VII LP with just over $1.4 billion of capital commitments.
Ms. Bernstein joins Leeds Equity with more than eight years of private equity and investment banking experience. From 2019 to 2023, Ms. Bernstein was a vice president at The Carlyle Group, where she worked on private equity transactions across several industries including business services, consumer, and media. Prior to The Carlyle Group, she was an associate at Centerview Capital for two years and she began her career at Morgan Stanley as an investment banking analyst. Ms. Bernstein has her undergraduate degree in economics from Dartmouth College and her MBA from Harvard.
“We could not be more excited to welcome Emily to our investment team and look forward to the significant contributions she will make to the firm,” said Jacques Galante, a partner at Leeds Equity.
A recent acquisition by Leeds is the December 2023 acquisition of Big Blue Marble Academy, an Atlanta-headquartered provider of early childhood education across the southeastern United States. The company, led by CEO Jeff Wahl, primarily serves infants to four-year-olds through an education program that promotes whole-child development and kindergarten readiness.
New York City-based Leeds Equity, founded by Jeffrey Leeds and Robert Bernstein in 1993, has raised more than $4 billion across its seven funds.
