Law Business Research was acquired by LLCP through its $2.5 billion sixth fund in December 2017

Law Business Research, a portfolio company of Levine Leichtman Capital Partners (LLCP), has closed the add-on acquisition of Hopkins Bruce Publishers (DBA Docket Navigator).

Docket Navigator is a provider of patent litigation information that is used to track, process, organize and synthesize case information from US district courts, the Court of Federal Claims, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Docket Navigator’s customers include more than 17,000 users across 88 of the AmLaw 100, and corporate and commercial users. Austin, Texas-based Docket Navigator was founded in 2007 and has reviewed more than 6.7 million docket entries and 600,000 court orders over its history.

Law Business Research (LBR) is a provider of information services and legal analysis tools to law firms and corporations through a portfolio of physical and online publications, and research tools. LBR, led by CEO Nick Brailey, is headquartered in London with additional offices in Hong Kong and Washington DC.

LBR was acquired by LLCP through its $2.5 billion sixth fund in December 2017 and in June 2018 the company added-on with the buy of Globe Business Media, a London-based provider of commercial information services to more than 350,000 legal and intellectual property professionals.

Levine Leichtman Capital Partners invests in middle-market companies located in the United States and Europe. Sectors of interest include consumer and branded products, franchises, business services, healthcare, education, engineered products and light manufacturing. LLCP has offices in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Charlotte, Miami, London, Stockholm, and The Hague.
