Health & Safety Institute (HSI), a provider of environmental health and safety software, training and compliance services, and a portfolio company of The Riverside Company, has acquired CLMI Safety Training, a provider of safety training videos and programs.
HSI is a provider of health and safety training and compliance services. Sectors served include emergency care (CPR, first aid, blood-borne pathogens), workplace safety, professional responder (firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, nurses, and physicians), and health & safety compliance. The company has more than 40,000 customers and 13,200 affiliated training centers. HSI is headquartered in Eugene, OR (www.hsi.com).
CLMI Safety Training (formerly Comprehensive Loss Management, Inc.) was founded in 1984 by CEO Rick Pollock and is based in Minneapolis (www.clmi-training.com).
The acquisition, which closed on June 7th, will combine HSI’s Summit Training Source brand with the similar business of CLMI, and deliver a larger array of products and services to a broader group of customers. “The addition of a well-known company like CLMI to the HSI family of companies represents a great opportunity, and we look forward to working closely with their team to expand our offerings to the market,” said Chad Birckelbaw, CEO of HSI.
Riverside acquired HSI in May 2015 from DW Healthcare Partners. This was the second go round for Riverside with HSI. The firm first invested in the company in July 2006 and later sold it to DW Healthcare Partners in August 2012. The buy of CLMI is the second add-on completed by HSI since being reacquired by Riverside. In January 2016 the company acquired SafeTec Compliance Systems based in Vancouver, WA (www.safetec.net).
