Z Capital Group has hired Gianni Russello as a Managing Director responsible for private equity investment sourcing and transaction development. He will be based in Z Capital’s New York office.
Prior to joining Z Capital, Mr. Russello was a Managing Director in the restructuring and special situations advisory investment banking group at Oppenheimer since 2009. In this role he was advising middle market debtor and creditor parties on capital raising, distressed M&A, exchange offers and Chapter 11 reorganizations. He was responsible for sourcing, developing and executing new business opportunities driven primarily by his ability to leverage his understanding of the restructuring process to provide advice and solutions to distressed debtors and their constituents. Before his time at Oppenheimer, Mr. Russello was a Vice President in the special situations distressed investing group of Trust Company of the West from 2007 to 2009. Mr. Russello began his career as part of the special credits group within JPMorgan Chase’s investment banking platform.

Z Capital makes control investments in middle-market distressed companies, operational turnarounds and special situations. The firm targets companies with an enterprise value of less than $1 billion or EBITDA of less than $100 million. Sectors of interest include consumer products, steel and steel processors, agricultural, gaming, leisure, real estate, manufacturing, specialty services and automotive.
