MAG Aerospace (MAG), a portfolio company of Clairvest Group through its fourth fund, has acquired Discovery Air Fire Services, a subsidiary of Canada-based specialty aviation provider Discovery Air, which is also owned by Clairvest’s fourth fund.
The buy of Discovery Air Fire Services (DAFS) adds aerial forest fire management, specialized charter aviation, and environmental monitoring services to MAG’s intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) service offerings.
DAFS’ services include the provision of airspace and aircraft management (birddog) services as well as aerial fire surveillance and air charter. The company also has an imagery division that provides low level infrared services, multispectral imagery, and electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) services. DAFS has been active in the Canadian aviation industry for over 60 years with primary bases in Dryden, Kenora, and Sudbury, ON (www.discoveryair-fs.com).
“DAFS has a long and proud history of providing real time situational awareness through aerial fire detection and management,” said MAG CEO, Joe Fluet. “We are thrilled to add DAFS to MAG as we continue to grow as the world’s leading provider of ISR Services.”
