Platte River Equity has promoted Derria Banta to Managing Director & Chief Financial Officer. She will oversee both firm and fund administration for Platte River and also serves as its Chief Compliance Officer.
Ms. Banta joined Platte River in 2012 as Chief Financial Officer, having led the firm’s fund administration on an outsourced basis since its inception in 2006. Prior to her time at Platte River, from May 2008 to November 2012 she was President of Complete Financial Ops, an accounting firm she co-founded in 2008 to provide outsourced accounting and financial services to private equity and venture capital firms. Earlier in her career she was with Centennial Ventures as Controller/VP of Finance and with Arthur Andersen as an Audit Manager. Ms. Banta has a BS in Accounting from the University of Wyoming and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Platte River makes equity investments of $20 million to $80 million in lower middle-market companies with enterprise values between $40 million and $250 million. The firm focuses on investing in the aerospace and transportation; energy and power; agriculture and chemicals; and metals and minerals. Platte River is based in Denver (www.platteriverequity.com).
Platte River currently has 12 companies in its portfolio. The most recent buy was the December 2016 purchase of Tiger-Sul Products, a provider of sulphur fertilizers and crop performance products, from H.J. Baker which had owned the company since 2005.
