Susquehanna Private Capital has been launched by Susquehanna International Group (SIG) to pursue acquisitions of lower middle market companies.
Susquehanna Private Capital (SPC) will make control investments of $10 million to $75 million in companies that have EBITDA from $3 million to $30 million. Sectors of interest include aerospace, industrials, consumer, healthcare, and business and government services. Susquehanna Private Capital is based in the Philadelphia suburb of Bala Cynwyd (www.spcllc.com).
As part of the new launch, Leo Helmers has been appointed as a Managing Director and group head of SPC and will be building a team to a work with him during the course of 2017. Prior to joining SPC, Mr. Helmers was Managing Partner of LMZ Partners as well as a Managing Director at the Carlyle Group. Earlier in his career, he worked at Trust Company of the West and Hamilton Lane. “I am pleased to be joining SIG to launch SPC, which will be focused on market leading companies with EBITDA between $3 and $30 million,” said Mr. Helmers. “SIG represents patient, flexible capital with no set time horizon unlike conventional private equity funds. Our ability to tailor our investments to meet the strategic objectives of middle market companies is a very compelling and attractive proposition.”
SPC adds a third leg to SIG’s private equity investment activities which already include Susquehanna Growth Equity – an investor of growth capital in the financial technology, information services, software, and internet sectors (www.sgep.com); and SIG Asia Investments which makes private equity investments in companies operating in the People’s Republic of China (www.sig-china.com).
“We are delighted that Leo agreed to join the SIG team and head up this exciting new venture with us,” said Amir Goldman, Managing Director of Susquehanna Growth Equity. “He fits perfectly into our entrepreneur centric culture and we believe he and SPC will be very appealing to the owners of lower middle market companies that are looking for ways to monetize their businesses without harming the spirit of their companies”.
