CVC Gets New Head of US TMT

cvc nf1CVC Capital Partners has hired Chris Colpitts as a Senior Managing Director to lead the firm’s investment efforts in the telecommunications, media and technology (TMT) sector in the US. Mr. Colpitts will be based in CVC’s San Francisco office and reports to both Lorne Somerville, Partner and Global Head of CVC’s TMT team, and Christopher Stadler, a Managing Partner at CVC.

Mr. Colpitts comes to CVC from Deutsche Bank, where he was the Global Co-Head of TMT investment banking working out of Deutsche Bank’s San Francisco office. Mr. Colpitts has over 18 years’ experience working in the San Francisco and Bay area with local and global technology companies, including Avago Technologies’ acquisition of Broadcom Corporation which – according to CVC – was the largest strategic transaction in the technology sector since 2000. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 2006, Mr. Colpitts worked as a Managing Director and Global Head of Electronics Investment Banking at Lehman Brothers.

“I have known Chris for almost 20 years and I am thrilled that he is coming on board as we continue to build our presence across the US and the TMT sector,” said Mr. Stadler.

“The TMT sector is rapidly changing, affected by structural and cyclical changes that create opportunities and CVC is perfectly positioned to seize these future investment opportunities,” said Mr. Colpitts. “I look forward to working with Chris, Lorne and the rest of the CVC team.”

Last month, CVC Capital Partners closed its latest fund, CVC Growth Partners, above its $750 million target at $1 billion in total capital commitments. CVC, the parent of CVC Growth, invests in a range of industries with a specific interest in industrial and service businesses. To date, CVC has raised over $79 billion in capital completing over 300 investments with an aggregate transaction value of $120 billion. The firm, founded in 1981, is based in London and has a network of 20 offices and 250 employees throughout Europe, Asia and the United States (www.cvc.com).

In response to Mr. Colpitts move to CVC, Deutsche Bank has appointed Mark Keene as its new global co-head of telecommunications, media and technology. Mr. Keene has been with Deutsche Bank for the past ten years.
