dominus nf6Dominus Capital has added Kent Farmer to the firm as an Operating Advisor. This addition follows last month’s close by Dominus of its second fund, Dominus Capital Partners II, LP, at its hard cap of $400 million in limited partner capital commitments. Mr. Farmer will work with Dominus in the specialty chemical, distribution, and packaging industries.

kent farmer nf2.jpgMr. Farmer is the former President and CEO of Spectrum Lubricants – a formulator, blender, packager, and distributor of specialty lubricants that Dominus acquired in 2010 and sold to Phillips 66 in June 2014. Upon the sale of Spectrum to Phillips 66, Mr. Farmer served as Manager of Phillips 66 Specialty Lubricants division. Prior to his time at Spectrum, Mr. Farmer was President and Chief Operating Officer of Coastal Unilube, a producer of lubricants and automotive chemicals.

Dominus Capital was founded by Gary Binning, Bob Haswell, and Ashish Rughwani – all former Quad-C Management executives – in 2008. The group of founding partners was later joined by several CEOs of past portfolio companies that now serve as Operating Partners of the firm. Dominus makes control equity investments in North American services, consumer, and industrial middle market companies that have between $10 million and $30 million of EBITDA.

In January, Dominus completed the acquisition of Complete Nutrition, a franchisor of health-focused retail stores and a distributor of nutritional supplements. The company’s retail stores offer sports nutrition, weight loss management and general health programs. Store staff members are typically athletes, certified personal trainers, nutritionists, and other people with experience in the fitness and health supplement retail industry. Complete Nutrition is headquartered in Omaha.

Dominus is headquartered in New York (www.dominuscap.com).
