Kevin Cronin, an experienced law enforcement agent and former Homeland Security professional, has joined Detroit-based financial advisory firm Mackinac Partners. Mr. Cronin will assume the title of Managing Director and will be active in the firm’s business intelligence and corporate security practice.
Mr. Cronin undoubtedly has the background for his new posting as he has considerable investigative experience working with government agencies such as the FBI and DEA on both domestic and cross border operations. He has also served as a Police Sergeant and as an undercover agent.
Mr. Cronin is the past president of private security consulting firm Executive Security and Protection which provided executive protection and intelligence for clients such as President George W. Bush, Michigan State Representative Pete Hoekstra, Congressman Joe Knollenberg, United Trucking, and the New York Diamond Exchange. He was also a Special Agent for the Department of Homeland Security. And, as an agent with the FBI and DEA, he worked with federal and state jurisdictions on large scale conspiracy and fraud investigations, corruption cases, and international undercover operations, including narcotics and money laundering investigations.
Mackinac’s business intelligence and corporate security practice was launched in August 2013 when Mackinac hired Gregory Suhajda as a Senior Managing Director. At the time of his hiring, Mr. Suhajda was President of Rehmann Corporate Investigative Services, a risk management and intelligence firm based in the Detroit suburb of Troy. He also co-founded and served as President and CEO of Veritas Global, a business intelligence and corporate investigative firm that was acquired by The Rehmann Group in 2010. Mr. Suhajda was a Special Agent with both the United States Secret Service and the FBI. While with the Secret Service, Mr. Suhajda was chosen as a member of President Clinton’s Presidential Protective Detail.
“It is increasingly important that we are able to provide security and intelligence solutions to our clients that are both locality focused and regionally integrated, particularly in cross border or multi-national situations,” said Mr. Suhajda. “Kevin Cronin has significant experience in all of the areas relevant to our corporate security clients – harnessing intelligence, securing operations, cross border investigations, asset and corporate protection, and government and jurisdictional coordination. We have partnered successfully with Kevin in the past and are very happy to welcome him to the Mackinac Partners team.”
Mr. Cronin has received formal training from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, US Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General, and other government and national Anti-Terrorism and security organizations. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Concordia University and is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Police Staff and Command, Class 285, which is recognized within the law enforcement community as the leading management course for law enforcement personnel.
