Valuation and corporate finance firm Duff & Phelps has announced that for the first time it will establish an advisory practice in Canada. The new Toronto office will be led by two new hires – Ross Fletcher joins the firm as Managing Director and Taranjit (TJ) Sekhon joins as a Director.
“Ross and TJ bring to our team industry expertise, significant domestic and cross-border transactional skills and rich client relationships,” said Scott Davidson, Managing Director and Duff & Phelps’ Toronto Office City Leader. “The addition of dedicated local M&A advisory skills is complementary to our existing valuation, disputes and investigations, expert witness, asset appraisal, e-discovery and transfer pricing businesses in Canada and we are confident that our clients will benefit from their insights and experience.”
Mr. Fletcher has more than 25 years’ of experience in middle-market investment banking, having managed a variety of M&A and financing transactions for both private and public companies across a broad range of industries. Before Duff & Phelps he was Co-Head of Scotiabank Mid-Market Capital Advisors. Prior to Scotiabank, he was a partner in two M&A/corporate finance advisory boutiques, Solaris Capital Advisors and Ernst & Young Orenda Corporate Finance. Mr. Fletcher has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Ivey School of Business at Western University.
“The firm’s M&A strengths – global reach, dedicated industry expertise and robust international coverage of the private equity community – make this a great opportunity” said Mr. Fletcher. “I am excited to be joining the team and I look forward to helping Duff & Phelps continue to grow its services in Canada.”
Mr. Sekhon also joins Duff & Phelps from Scotiabank Mid-Market Capital Advisors where he most recently served as a director providing M&A advisory services. Prior to that, he was a Vice President with Aon Reed Stenhouse’s M&A Transaction Advisory Group, a Vice President with Ernst & Young Orenda Corporate Finance, and an Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Finance. He has a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Accounting degrees from the University of Waterloo.
