Data Physics Corporation, a portfolio company of Battery Ventures, has acquired Lansmont Corporation and its subsidiary Team Corporation. Combined, these three companies provide a full-service platform for vibration-testing equipment.
Data Physics Corporation, acquired by Battery Ventures in February 2014, designs and manufactures test and measurement equipment and software for acoustic testing, machinery diagnostics, shock and drop testing, structural vibration testing, and shaker testing applications. The company is based in San Jose (www.dataphysics.com).
Lansmont Corporation, based in Monterey, CA, is a maker of products for measuring real-world dynamics and simulating them in laboratory environments (www.lansmont.com). Team Corporation, a Lansmont subsidiary located in Burlington, WA, is a provider of high performance test and measurement for noise and vibration applications (www.teamcorporation.com).
When Battery Ventures acquired Data Physics, its intent was to grow the company both organically and through acquisitions. “The physical property test-and-measurement market is fragmented and ripe for consolidation,” said Jesse Feldman, a Battery general partner.
Monroe Capital (www.monroecap.com) provided the senior financing when Battery acquired Data Physics and now has increased its credit facility to provide for the acquisitions of Lansmont Corporation and Team Corporation.
Battery invests in seed, early, growth and buyout opportunities in technology and related markets. Sectors of specific interest include software and services, web infrastructure, e-commerce, digital media and industrial technologies. The firm was founded in 1983 and is based in Boston with additional offices in Silicon Valley and Israel (www.battery.com).
