Robert Juneja and Bret Bowerman, both former investment professionals with Irving Place Capital, have launched Harbour Point Capital. The new firm will specialize in healthcare investing.
“This is an opportune moment in healthcare and one where having our own firm with a flexible investing mandate will enable us to provide capital solutions and direction to high potential companies,” said Mr. Juneja.
Harbour Point Capital will invest $10 million to $50 million of equity capital in companies that operate in the healthcare sector with a specific interest in companies active in accessible primary care, outpatient services, consumer-centered services and outsourced clinical services.
“The healthcare industry is undergoing rapid change and we believe that there is a solid niche for a firm led by individuals with our experience and track record,” said Mr. Bowerman.
Although they have left Irving Place to form Harbour Point, both Mr. Juneja and Mr. Bowerman will be Senior Advisors to Irving Place Capital, and will continue to serve on the boards of two of its portfolio companies, National Surgical Hospitals and Universal Hospital Services.
“Bob and Bret have been valued members of our investment team for many years, and we wish them great success in their new venture,” said John Howard, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Irving Place Capital.
Mr. Juneja has 17 years of private equity experience, having joined Irving Place Capital’s predecessor in 2000, after serving as an investment professional with Sagaponack Partners and Madison Dearborn Partners, and as an investment banker with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. He also served as vice president of corporate development for Destia Communications, a private-equity backed portfolio company. He holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Wharton.
Prior to joining Irving Place Capital in 2007, Mr. Bowerman was an investment professional for GoldenTree Asset Management, DB Capital Partners and an investment banker with Credit Suisse First Boston. He also served as Director of Financial Planning & Analysis for private equity-backed Jenny Craig. He holds a BA in Economics from Washington & Lee University with an MBA from Wharton.
Harbour Point is headquartered in New York City and initially plans to fund investments on a transaction-by-transaction basis (www.harbourpointcapital.com).
