Marlin Acquires iolo Technologies

iolo nfMarlin Equity Partners has acquired iolo Technologies, a maker of performance optimization software for PCs and mobile devices. The operations of iolo have been integrated with Phoenix Technologies, a Marlin portfolio company acquired in November 2010.

iolo technologies is a maker of system utility software that is used to repair, optimize, and protect computers and digital devices. iolo’s product line is led by its flagship performance optimization suite System Mechanic which is carried in more than 23,000 retail storefronts and its software is available for purchase across all major e-tailers, as well as through domestic and international distributors and resellers. The company was founded in 1998 and is based in Los Angeles (www.iolo.com).

Phoenix Technologies is a provider of Core System Software (“CSS”) for PCs and other computing devices. Its CSS products support and enable the compatibility, connectivity, security and manageability of the various components and technologies used in electronic devices. Since its original BIOS product in 1983, Phoenix has shipped firmware in over one billion systems. The company is headquartered in Milpitas, CA (www.phoenix.com).

Marlin Equity Partners invests in businesses that have revenues of $20 million to $1 billion and that are in the process of undergoing varying degrees of operational, financial or market-driven change. Sectors of interest include technology, healthcare, consumer products and services, business services, manufacturing, aerospace & defense, distribution & logistics, and media.
