Signal Hill Hires Peter Gant as Managing Director in San Francisco

signal hill IB nfInvestment bank Signal Hill has added Peter Gant to its team as a Managing Director. He will be active in technology mergers & acquisitions in the enterprise software sector.

“Talented professionals with the background and reputation of Peter don’t come along often and we are delighted that he has chosen to join Signal Hill,” said Scott Wieler, Signal Hill’s founder and Chairman. “In addition to his extensive experience representing a wide array of clients in transactions of consequence, Peter shares our vision of working collaboratively across practice groups so that our clients may benefit from the full breadth of Signal Hill’s deep domain knowledge and expertise.”

Mr. Gant will be based in the firm’s San Francisco office, where he will join the team of investment banking professionals who recently transitioned to Signal Hill from Montgomery & Co. In April, Montgomery, a Santa Monica, CA-based boutique investment bank, sold its San Francisco office to Signal Hill in order to unwind its mergers and acquisitions advisory business in order to focus on its principal investments.

Mr. Gant, who most recently was a Managing Director and Head of Software M&A at RBC Capital Markets, has over 20 years of investment banking and client advisory experience. He has completed more than 50 M&A transactions, public equity offerings and private placements with companies such as Cisco, EMC, Open Text, SAP and Tibco, and private equity firms such as Accel-KKR, Apax Partners, Marlin Equity Partners, Thoma Bravo and Vista Equity Partners. Mr. Gant began his career as an engineer, transitioning into financial services when he joined RBC Capital Markets in 1999. He holds an MBA from Berkeley, as well as a Masters and BS in Engineering, both from Cornell University.

Signal Hill is an advisory boutique serving the following sectors: internet & digital media, internet infrastructure, services and software. The firm has offices in Baltimore, Bangalore, Boston, Nashville, New York, Reston and San Francisco (www.signalhill.com).

“Peter’s addition to the San Francisco office is further evidence of Signal Hill’s commitment to its West Coast practice and we are thrilled to have him join our team. The real beneficiaries, of course, will be our clients, who will now have access to his unparalleled industry knowledge and expertise,” said John Roediger, Head of Signal Hill’s West Coast office.
