Greg Schooley Joins A.T. Kearney as Partner in Private Equity Practice

Management consulting firm A.T. Kearney has added Greg Schooley as a new partner in its New York office. Mr. Schooley’s work at A.T. Kearney will focus on helping private equity funds generate top-tier returns by selecting attractive investments and creating profit growth in portfolio companies.

“Greg is a rare individual who has significant capabilities in business strategy, M&A, operations and turnarounds — and a deep understanding of private equity investor dynamics. His breadth of skills, experience and insight will be extremely valuable in helping our private equity clients achieve superior returns,” said Bob Haas, partner and head of A.T. Kearney’s Private Equity Practice in the Americas.

Prior to joining A.T. Kearney, Mr. Schooley led the internal consulting group for J.H. Whitney & Co., a midmarket buyout fund.  “I am thrilled to be joining A.T. Kearney, not just because it is one of the oldest and most esteemed names in management consulting, but because A.T. Kearney offers private equity funds a unique combination of deep industry experience, unparalleled operational improvement capabilities, and keen strategic insight,” said Mr. Schooley. “I think the private equity industry has arrived at a more challenging place where the returns that limited partners demand will not be a result of financial engineering or ever expanding multiples, but by profit growth in the portfolio. A.T. Kearney is supremely capable of helping PE funds do exactly that — driving EBITDA growth quickly.”

Mr. Schooley has 25 years of experience in management consulting, private equity investing, and operating roles. He has led strategy and transformation efforts for Fortune 500 corporations and private equity funds. His experience also includes business strategy, M&A, marketing strategy and operational turnarounds. Mr. Schooley has a BS in industrial management from Carnegie Mellon University, an MBA from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, and a post-graduate certificate from Sciences Po in Paris.

A.T. Kearney’s private equity practice works with private equity firms through the entire investment process—from supporting the deal flow, 100-day planning, and restructuring operations, to building up assets, creating value, and exiting the deal. Industry specialties include aerospace and defense, automotive, chemicals, communications media and technology, consumer products and retail, financial institutions, health, metals and mining, oil and gas, private equity, public sector, transportation travel and infrastructure and utilities. A.T. Kearney was founded in 1926 and is headquartered in Chicago with additional offices in major business centers in 39 countries (www.atkearney.com/private-equity).
