Peterson Partners has hired Matthew Day, former managing partner at Black Opal Equity, as a principal on its investment team. In his new position, Mr. Day will be responsible for identifying new investment opportunities and he will also work with portfolio company management teams to accelerate growth.
“Our investment team really sets the pace for success, and Matt will be an incredible addition,” said Dan Peterson, managing partner of Peterson Partners. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding capital investments, and he has a wonderful ability to discern hidden investment opportunities.”
Mr. Day has more than a decade of professional experience in finance and capital investments. Prior to spending nearly four years at Black Opal Equity, he served as vice president at Macquarie Capital Advisors – both in Sydney and New York – where he completed investments in the healthcare, industrial, infrastructure and utilities sectors.
“I have long had a great admiration for the work being done at Peterson Partners, and I am thrilled to be joining such an outstanding team,” said Mr. Day. “I really connect with the Peterson Partners approach of building solid relationships with portfolio companies, and I am excited to dive in and begin strengthening those bonds.”
Last month, Peterson Partners had a final close on the firm’s eighth fund with $140 million in capital commitments. This is the largest fund ever raised by Peterson Partners.
Peterson Partners invests from $2 million to $15 million in companies with revenues from $10 million to $50 million. The firm was founded in 1995 and has managed over $500 million in committed capital through eight funds. Peterson Partners is based in Salt Lake City (www.petersonpartnerslp.com).
